Back in the day, when I had more time in my days (what was that like?), I used to do this thing every now and then on my old blog called "Mama Mondays."  Today, I had a major motherhood moment, so I thought it would be appropriate to do a "Mama Monday" post - even though it's Wednesday.  (That is how motherhood works most days, right?  It might not always be as it seems (it's Wednesday), but if it's good, you want to remember it.)

Today, I had lunch with my handsome little Miles at school.  (I try and put it on the calendar once a month, because it means so much to him (and me!).)

He knew I was coming, and when I walked in the lunchroom filled with 200+ busy kids, I saw the biggest smile I've ever seen on his face when he spotted me.  I mean, you guys - if there is something I want to etch into my brain FOREVER, it is.that.smile.  It was precious.  And priceless.  Lord, may I never forget that smile.

As I got closer, he grabbed his cheeks because (not joking) the smile was so big it started hurting his cheeks!

He was so proud to have me there. He proudly led me through the lunch line, carrying my tray because he wanted to be a gentleman. Entering his lunch code with pride because he was "buying his Mama lunch."

We headed outside for a picnic and snuggled while we ate.  I got to stare at that toothful (and toothless) grin.  (Teeth of a 7 year old are weird... some are moving out, huge ones are moving in, things don't fit right in that little mouth, etc.)

This. THIS. This is the joy I am so thankful for.

These are the little moments that make all the challenging ones worth it.  (Mamas: Can I get an "Amen" that there are lots of those?!)

This boy is such a blessing.  He is the one that made me a Mama.  May I never forget that huge smile and how little things mean the most.

And may I never forget that even though he may not show it on the regular like he did today, my son is proud of ME.  As mamas, we spend so much of our lives feeling such love and pride FOR our kids.  It is amazing to feel that reciprocated.

So - to all you Mamas out there - Keep on "Mommin'."  (That is a verb in my book!)  You are superwoman.  And your kids love you and are proud of YOU too.  xoxo
